The Northern Training Center (NTC) in Mae Sai hosts workshops and meetings on a regular basis for speakers of minority languages from both Thailand and Myanmar in a cost-effective and efficient manner. The NTC also provides the facilities to mentor and consult with national linguists, many of whom were trained at Payap University, who are doing projects with minority languages in their home areas.

The training and language development activities done at the NTC are resulting in literacy and reading materials, teacher training and literacy programs, decisions informed by language survey, the translation of the Bible and other helpful material (such as health and agricultural material), and well-equipped church and community workers who are helping people apply the information available in their mother tongues to their cultures and communities.
